12th of june to july 1st

On monday june the 12th, I left Capurganá to go to Cartagena: 1h30 of boat and then 8h of bus.
The next day, I walked a bit in Cartagena before meeting my cousin Sylvain at the airport in the afternoon.

We stayed 2 days in the beautiful colonial Cartagena.

We then took a bus to Santa Marta, still on the colombian north coast. After spending a night there, we went to visit the Tayrona national park not far from there, and camped a night there.

After another night in Santa Martha celebrating Sylvain’s birthday, we went to Palomino, 1h of bus away. It’s a nice little beach village in which we stayed 2 days. We did tubing on the Palomino river (but no pictures in the water), and we visited a lake with flamingos.

On tuesady the 20th in the evening, we left for Medellin in bus. The trip initially supposed to take 15h took 19, we arrived on the afternoon of the 21st. We left the next morning to Guatapé, 2 hours away, in which there is a big stone that one can climb to reach the top, from which there is a gorgeous view of the region.

We then went back to Medellin on the 23rd and stayed 2 days. We visited the historic center and the beautiful Botero statues, and we took the “metrocable”, a Meddelin public transport: it’s a teleferic that connects the center to the far uphill neighborhoods, from which the view of the city is beautiful.

On sunday the 25th we left to Cali, a bus night away from Medellin. We stayed 2 days there.

On the night of the 27th we left for our last bus night together, to Bogotá. We then visited the city, did the graffiti tour, during which we learn about history, techniques and artists of graffiti in Bogotá. We also went up Monserrate, a church on a hill above the city, offering a beautiful view.

Sylvain left on saturday july the 1st, and I stayed In Bogotá until the 5th, enjoying this city that I know well for having lived there for a year and a half, seeing old friends, before taking a flight to… France! I took a break in my trip this summer, I’ll tell you about it in the next post. Don’t panick, I’ll continue going down the americas.
