October 30th – November 1st
(A lot of my pictures were lost because of an SD card accident, I’ll publish this post like this and add photos later if I manage to get them back)
After recovering from my emotions after the ascension of the Huayna Potosi, I took a bus on October the 30th from La Paz to Copacabana, to go to the Isla del Sol, that I heard was really worth it. The bus goes onto a “ferry”, a big word for the wooden embarcation, one wonders how the bus fits on it. The passengers have to get off the bus and cross in a smaller boat.
After a night in Copacabana, I took a boat to Isla del Sol. Unfortunately, because of conflicts between communities on the island, more than half of it was closed to visitors. It’s really a shame, because the north part, which was closed, is supposed to be the most beautiful part. I still walked around all day long, until the evening. The island is quite touristic, but very nice.
I stayed the night there, and took the boat back to Copacabana the next day. The island is beautiful, but I wouldn’t say it’s worth the transport from La Paz, especially because I already had seen the lake on the Peruvian side. I took a bus to La Paz, and then followed with a night bus to Cochabamba. I’ll tell you about it the next time.
